If they are new to the job or have been around a little while the first most basic knowledge he needs is his company’s product information. Confidence is a very important asset for sales personnel.

A very good understanding about product along with practice helps build that primary confidence. I suggest studying that up and down inside and out, find a mentor that can help with that. You’ll need to have a phone # you know you can call (sales manager, mentor, associate, etc) to assist with any product solution you may need on the fly.
All that being said, the real training really does not start until that has been established. Remember one thing, when you have all these resources at your disposal, You do know more than your prospect does!
